An aircraft in flight is acted on by four forces lift, weight, thrust, and drag.
Drag and weight are natural forces of the earth. Whereas lift and thrust are created forces, which are used to overcome weight and drag and to achieve flight. During straight-and-level un-accelerated flight lift equals weight, thrust equals drag. Thrust is created through the propeller Drag is created through wind resistance and surface friction Lift is created by the airflow over the wings Weight is created by the earth’s gravity |
